Paul Nesphory is a seasoned mining engineering professional with over 19 years of experience across the mineral extraction and processing sectors. He has built a strong reputation for his technical expertise, strategic management capability, and project leadership on large‐scale mining operations.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®), in addition to being a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). These credentials complement his deep domain knowledge in mining engineering and operations, making him uniquely positioned to bridge technical, operational and strategic dimensions of mining projects.
Throughout his career, Paul has held several senior leadership roles, encompassing mine planning, operations management, process optimisation, resource development and capital project execution. His responsibilities have included the full lifecycle of mining operations—from feasibility and design, through commissioning and ramp-up, to production optimisation and continuous improvement.
Paul’s technical strengths include mine planning and scheduling, extraction process flowsheet design, metallurgical performance improvement, cost management and quality control. At the same time, his project management discipline ensures that scope, schedule, budget and safety outcomes are met, and his stakeholder management skills enable him to align cross‐functional teams and drive results in complex, multi‐disciplinary environments.
His professional journey has taken him to operations in West Africa, where he currently serves as Senior Mining Engineer (West Africa) at a mid-tier gold producer, overseeing operational performance and strategic improvement initiatives. In this capacity, Paul has led teams responsible for reserve development, execution of blend strategies, optimisation of plant performance, mine to mill coordination and workforce development initiatives.
As a Tanzanian national professionally registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania (ERB), Paul is committed to advancing the mining industry in his country and region. He brings a practical, results-oriented mindset combined with the global perspective and disciplined approach of a certified project manager.
In addition to his operational roles, Paul is a mentor and leader, recognised for setting high standards of engineering excellence and ethical conduct. He is passionate about capacity building, local content development, and the sustainable growth of the mining sector in East Africa.
