1.Position Overview

Tanzania Integrated Engineering Solution Company Limited (TIES) is a multidisciplinary mining and engineering consultancy providing professional services in geology, mining, mineral processing, civil and structural engineering, environmental management, and EPC/EPCM project execution.

TIES invites applications from final-year students or recent graduates in Mechanical Engineering for the position of Mechanical Engineering Intern (2 Posts). The successful candidates will support in delivering mechanical engineering scope across TIES' EPCC and mineral processing plant projects, gaining practical, on-the-job exposure under the supervision of experienced engineers.

2.Duties and Responsibilities

2.1 Mechanical Component Design

• Assist in the design and sizing of mechanical plant components, including tanks, hoppers, chutes, launders, and structural supports for CIP/CIL and mineral processing equipment.

• Support selection and sizing of mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, screens, and grinding mill components, under the guidance of a senior engineer.

• Assist in structural steel design for equipment platforms, walkways, handrails, and support steelwork.

• Perform basic engineering calculations (loading, stress, and material selection) to support mechanical and structural design decisions.

2.2 Technical Drawing and Documentation

• Prepare and update mechanical and structural drawings, including general arrangement (GA), fabrication, and detail drawings, using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.

• Draft isometric and layout drawings for piping, chutes, launders, and equipment interconnections.

• Support preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), equipment registers, and fabrication schedules derived from design drawings.

• Assist in maintaining project technical document and drawing registers in accordance with TIES document standards.

2.3 Engineering Review and Procurement Support

• Participate in design and engineering reviews for EPCC and CIP/CIL plant projects.

• Assist with technical evaluation of vendor equipment quotations and fabrication drawings against design specifications.

2.4 Project and Site Support

• Support technical teams on site during installation, construction supervision, and commissioning activities, as required.

• Perform other technical duties as assigned by the supervising engineer.

3. Qualifications and Competencies

3.1 Academic and Professional Qualifications

• Final-year student or recent graduate (Bachelor's Degree) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.

• Registration or progress toward registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer will be an added advantage.

3.2 Experience

• No prior professional experience is required; relevant coursework, industrial training, or project work in mechanical/plant engineering will be an added advantage.

• Candidates with a proven practical training record in the mining industry will have a distinct advantage.

3.3 Skills and Attributes

• Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

• Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) is an added advantage.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

• Good communication skills in English and Kiswahili.

• Willingness to learn, work in a team environment, and travel to project/mine sites when required.

4.Terms and Conditions of Internship

• The internship shall be for a period of months (6) months, renewable subject to performance and organisational need.

• The internship shall be conducted under the supervision of a designated engineer within the Technical Services Department.

• The internship shall be subject to TIES' internal internship policy and applicable provisions of the Employment and Labour Relations Act, Cap. 366, where relevant.
